Launch a Career in the Performing Arts

Book an information session with lecturers from UOW’s renowned Performance and Theatre Program. The session will provide students with real world insights into building a career in the performing arts as an actor, writer, director, producer, arts manager and theatre technician. Our experienced, industry-connected Lecturers will outline the pathways available for studying theatre and performance at UOW. Sessions can be tailored to the school’s individual needs by request.

If the group can visit campus, this experience will include a tour of UOW’s state of the art performance facilities.

Spotlight on Social Sciences

Dive into the fascinating world of social sciences and discover how society shapes our lives and futures. Join us for an exciting event filled with dynamic sessions about criminology, human geography, sociology, human services, and public health.

Don't miss this opportunity to engage with experts, participate in hands-on activities, and explore real-world issues that impact our communities. Students will rotate through each session in small groups (depending on numbers).

Students currently studying Legal Studies, Society and Culture, Community and Family Studies and Geography are likely to benefit from this event, but any student in Years 10 - 12 who has shown an interest in the Social Sciences is welcome to attend.

This is a free event and bus subsidies are available for all schools.

Shakespeare in Focus

The University of Wollongong invites you to take part in an immersive lecture considering the world of Shakespeare that will enhance your literary appreciation and analytical skills. Dr Julian Lamb Ph.D. Doctor of Philosophy, English Renaissance Literature and Linguistics (University of Cambridge), will offer close readings and discussions of Shakespearean texts to help students build transferable techniques of critical analysis.

The Supply Chain Symposium

The Supply Chain Sustainability: Efforts throughout the Chain” will bring together the Supply Chain industry and UOW students and staff to share sustainability initiatives and provide a platform for collaboration and discussion for a greener supply chain in Australia. Students will be able to hear from the opening keynote, various supply chain partners including Amazon and panel discussions from industry, PhD students and UOW staff. This is a unique opportunity for school students interested in Business, Economics and Commerce to further expand their knowledge and experience a professional symposium in a University setting. Numbers will be limited for school students. Please provide your expression on interest with predicted numbers of students. Please note that as this is an industry event, it will continue past 3pm, school students must be accompanied by a teacher and are able to leave at any stage of the day.

Exploring Wildlife on the Great Barrier Reef from Above

An interactive talk in which the audience hear about some of the aerial research we have been doing on the Great Barrier Reef and they will get to explore high resolution aerial drone images of reef ecosystems for themselves and have a go at identifying wildlife within its natural habitat.

Lenses and Physics

Students examine the properties of lenses, such as the focal length and magnification produced. Students will use knowledge of the thin lens equation to construct and test a simple microscope and telescope. They will compare their observations and measurements to those predicted by the theory. Some fun physics demonstrations will be included at the end of the session, along with liquid nitrogen ice-cream for everyone.

Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC)

Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC)

The SEC provides students with an exhilarating day where they compete with other school groups in hands-on activities with the opportunity for regional winners to then compete at state and national levels. Schools bring along a group of up to 32 Year 9 & 10 students to compete in a range of engaging STEM activities, such as designing an earthquake proof tower, building a hovercraft or bridge, providing electricity to a city or creating an environmentally friendly house.
